Birmingham Hippodrome in partnership with Aarrow Advertising (USA) have an exciting new opportunity for up to 20 young people to learn the art of Sign Spinning.
Sign Spinning is exactly that, spinning signs in an energetic and skilled way to advertise an event, a company, or just to show off what visual tricks can be achieved. Sign spinning bridges the gap between dance and sport. Think urban street style – re-mixed with street dance – add in a bit of skater and surf for good measure and you are on the right wave length! Take a look at how it looks here and search Sign Spinning on Youtube for more content.
Aarrow Advertising (USA) created sign spinning out of their passion for youth employment stems and desire to create flexible economic opportunities, since 2002 they haveemployed over 5000 young people as sign spinners. Sign Spinning has taken off in over 10 countries worldwide, each year the World Sign Spinning Championship brings together the best sign spinners to see who has technical ability, execution and style in a two day long tournament. So far the UK have not been represented.
Birmingham Hippodrome have invited to Birmingham – Max Durovic the “spin-ventor” and CEO of AArrow Advertising along with head trainer Justin Brown – also known in the industry as the Bruce Lee of sign spinning.
The Aarrow team will then be hosting daily workshops in public spaces for up to 20 young people from July 28 – 2 Aug. Those who excel will then have the opportunity to perform at a range of events over summer – including at our programme of outdoor dance on 3 Aug. A performance fee is available.
This opportunity will suit active young people aged 16 – 25 with skills in urban sports, street dance and or circus.
All the apprentice spinners will need is comfortable weather proof clothing and a positive mental attitude – the signs will be provided.
